In March, 2013 -
a large scale project in Edinburgh.
project involved the basement and ground floor rooms
of this stunning town house within the Scottish
Capital. The complexity meant that we spent
nearly three weeks carrying out this project.
basement, the true age of the house was shown with
the unevenness of the subfloor which meant a full
screed and liquid DPM prior to installing a long
plank natural oak floor.
floor was where the complex work really took place.
A Fumed Oak, large block parquet floor was installed
in a Herringbone format in the Lounge and
combination pattern in the hallway. The
existing floor boards were covered with plywood to
enable us to adhere the blocks. The client
wanted a framed herringbone floor which in normal
circumstances, would have been fine but again, the
age of the property shone through with the room
being over 100mm out of square.
This was a
very testing but also, very rewarding project of
which both the client and ourselves are impressed
with the results.
